Single-Sided Pressed Tubes
Single-sided pressed copper, aluminum, or stainless steel tubes for high power losses. (...)
Monopress, Multipress, Interpress, Structureflow or Embeddedflow: five different designs, one task. All five cool reliably, but under different conditions. Which fits depends on power density, installation space, coolant medium, and the required degree of functional integration.
Heat Flux Density
High power dissipation on a small area requires a cooler with a high k-value. Structureflow and Interpress are suitable for very high power densities; Monopress and Multipress for medium to high power dissipation.
Coolant Path and Cooling Sides
Single-sided cooling? Monopress. Cooling from multiple sides of a component? Multipress. Uniform bilateral cooling via internal tube? Interpress. Maximum internal structure? Structureflow.
Installation Size, Weight and Shape
Flat aluminium coolers are lightweight and compact. Embeddedflow combines cooling and housing structure in one component, useful when form and function are to be unified.
Media Properties
For aggressive media, pure water, or extreme temperatures, stainless steel or copper tubes offer advantages over aluminium. The choice of material also depends on the coolant medium and the system environment.
Functional Integration
Embeddedflow combines cold plate and housing in a single assembly. Suitable for applications where the cooling system is also to serve as carrier or protective housing.
| Design | Particularly Suited for | |
|---|---|---|
| Monopress | Pressed-in tubes - single-sided | High power dissipation, wide media choice, standard applications |
| Multipress | Pressed-in tubes - multi-sided | Components that need to be cooled from multiple sides |
| Interpress | Internal tube - uniformly bilateral | Uniform temperature distribution on both sides of the base plate |
| Structureflow | Internally structured channels / pins | Maximum power density, hotspot cooling, highest k-value |
| Embeddedflow | Housing with integrated cooling circuit | Multifunctional assemblies with cooling + housing function |
Monopress uses single-sided pressed-in tubes: one or more tubes are pressed into one side of the base body. Multipress extends this principle to at least two sides, allowing components to be thermally connected and uniformly cooled on multiple sides. Multipress is particularly suitable for geometrically complex assemblies.
Structureflow is the better choice when maximum cooling performance on a small area is required (e.g. hotspot cooling for IGBTs or laser drivers). Interpress is preferable when uniform temperature distribution across both sides of the base plate is more important than the absolute k-value.
The choice of material determines media compatibility. Aluminium coolers are suitable for water-glycol mixtures and many industrial cooling fluids. For aggressive media or pure water, stainless steel tubes or special coatings are used. COOLTEC advises you on media-appropriate material selection.
COOLTEC manufactures connections according to customer requirements: press-fit, soldered, threaded connections (NPT, G-thread), quick couplings, or individual geometries. The connection position and type are defined as part of the individual design process.
